Description
Hypoglycemia
Hypoglycemia refers to the condition in which our blood sugar levels fall below normal: 70 mg / dL.
The main causes that cause it:
- High dose of insulin or antidiabetic tablets
- Late intake of meals or skipping them
- Intake of insufficient amount of carbohydrates in the main or intermediate meals
- Intense exercise without the necessary intake of carbohydrates
- Alcohol consumption
The main symptoms of hypoglycemia are:
- Trembling
- Tachycardia
- Dizziness
- Sweating
- Inability to concentrate
- Intense feeling of hunger
- Blurred vision
- Aggressiveness
- Drowsiness
- Confusion
Treatment of hypoglycemia:
If we measure blood sugar and glucose levels are below 70 mg / dL, we apply the following rule of 15:
- We take 15gr directly from the mouth. fast carbohydrates.
- Health professionals recommend taking dextrose to treat hypoglycemic episodes.
- Dextrose (D-glucose) is the glucose used by cells for food and has the highest glycemic index. Products with “pure D-Glucose” have been shown to act faster than other carbohydrates.
- After receiving the 15g of dextrose, wait 15 minutes & repeat the sugar measurement. If our blood sugar is still below 70 mg / dL we repeat the rule.
Each Lift chewable tablet contains a dosed amount of 4 grams of pure fast-acting dextrose.
This makes it easy to calculate the exact dose of dextrose that a person with diabetes needs to consume to deal with their hypoglycemia, without causing an excessive rise in blood sugar after consuming any other food.
